Civil and Geotechnical Engineering Services for Child Daycare Facility
Hanover County, Virginia
IInnovoGeo Engineering provided various civil and geotechnical engineering services related to upgrades and improvements of an existing child daycare facility. After learning during our early involvement that the project scope included a below-ground pool that was planned to be filled, InnovoGeo proactively identified related geotechnical risks for the client and proposed several alternatives to mitigate those risks.
Deliverables for the project included:
An Existing Slopes Exhibit summarizing slope percent ranges across the site, to inform optimal grading and playground equipment location to minimize disturbance area
An ADA Accessibility Assessment for existing building access
A Geotechnical Evaluation and Fill Recommendations Letter related to the proposed filling of the existing in-ground pool
A Proposed Grading Plan civil drawing set for County building permit – approved with no comments.
InnovoGeo’s services required compliance with the new national franchise’s internal standards and specifications for redesign of multiple separate playground areas. Several iterations of grading design were performed to allow the proposed playground equipment to be located within a sloping and space-limited area behind the existing daycare building. InnovoGeo’s successful coordination with the client, surveyors, playground equipment and engineered turf vendors, contractors, and the project architect allowed our services to be completed ahead of client’s schedule. Construction is anticipated for Summer 2026.
