Company Story

InnovoGeo Engineering was founded in 2024 by Christopher Lynch, PE, to provide practical, high-value civil and geotechnical engineering services throughout Central Virginia and beyond. Chris brings more than 15 years of civil and geotechnical engineering experience, supporting projects with significant technical complexity and risk across the water resources, mining, transportation, public and private development, solid waste, environmental, and energy sectors.

His experience reflects multiple perspectives, including work for public agencies, engineering consultants, contractors, and project owners. He has contributed to projects delivered through design-build, design-bid-build, and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) methods, with individual project values reaching several hundred million dollars and site conditions spanning a wide range of geologic settings.

This breadth of experience enables Chris to approach projects with a practical understanding of technical risk, constructability, project delivery, and owner priorities.

Testimonials

  • “We hired Mr. Chris Lynch (InnovoGeo) to evaluate an older masonry retaining wall as part of a phased residential hardscape/master plan. He was professional in every aspect—easy to communicate with, timely with deliverables, and clear about what the investigation could (and couldn’t) conclude. I especially appreciated his disciplined approach to scope and professional boundaries—he was clear about what could be concluded and what would require additional analysis. As a homeowner, I also valued how clearly he explained the observations and implications in practical terms. His recommendations were conservative in the right ways—focused on risk reduction and long-term performance—without overselling certainty. He was also kind and personable throughout the process. I’d recommend InnovoGeo to any homeowner who wants thoughtful, technically sound guidance and a clear path forward.”

    - E. Dunn Richards - Owner

  • "Chris and his team provided an experienced geotechnical engineer to work with on our most recent project. Knowledgeable and reliable."

    - Don Rissmeyer, PE, CFM - Senior Associate, AMT Engineering

  • "I met Chris about a year ago and he impressed me with his knowledge of geotechnical engineering and his quest to learn more about in-situ testing of soil and rock. I have subcontracted to him for some of my in-situ soil and rock testing projects...I feel extremely confident in his ability to make accurate measurements. I truly enjoy having Chris work with me on projects."

    - Roger A. Failmezger, P.E., F. ASCE, BC GE - President, In-Situ Soil Testing, L.C.

  • "Chris was excellent. His communication was top-notch, and he delivered faster than expected. He offered great input based on his expertise and even shared additional helpful references for our project. InnovoGeo is a great company that exceeded our expectations."

    - Alex Kruthaupt - Developer

  • "Chris at InnovoGeo was extremely helpful with our project. He went above and beyond what one would expect, and even recommended another provider that had alternative equipment for identifying the depth of rock. Chris's knowledge of subsurface conditions and his ability to determine the appropriate solution for the specific need is why I will call him first from now on. Thanks again, Chris!"
