Utility-Scale Solar Geotechnical Consulting Services

Various Locations Across Virginia

InnovoGeo Engineering was contracted to provide geotechnical consulting services to a client for multiple utility-scale solar projects in varying phases of development across Virginia.

Services provided for one project included review of a developer's proposed scope for geotechnical investigation, review of a proposal from a third-party geotechnical consultant related to that proposed scope, and providing recommendations for optimization and improvement of the scope to provide the best value to the developer.  Recommendations were based on an initial project geotechnical risk evaluation performed by InnovoGeo, prior to any field testing being performed.

Additional services were provided for a separate project involving a proposed utility-scale solar installation on a dormant municipal solid waste landfill.  Services included review of background documents provided, including previous geotechnical investigations completed.  InnovoGeo prepared a letter identifying gaps in the available geotechnical information, which included a detailed project geotechnical risk register with project-specific risks, potential impacts, and potential mitigations that could be explored through further development phases.
